Taking inspiration from highly successful label-owned studios of the past, The Distillery studio is available to all Distiller artists and gives them the opportunity to make their albums in their very own world class recording facility. Located in the tranquil setting of the Somerset countryside, studio guests are able to escape from their regular day-to-day distractions and focus solely on their music.
Designed by the prestigious Neil Grant (Real World, BBC Maida Vale) The Distillery offers versatility that would suit almost any recording situation. The control room enables supremely accurate monitoring with the use of custom designed speakers by Neil himself.
The Live room’s acoustic design provides an incredibly controlled sound, which can be altered further with the use of remote controlled acoustic blinds. A large isolation booth, as well as a much livelier stone walled mezzanine, adds to the variety of acoustic spaces within the studio. The main aesthetic feature is the specially designed acoustic glass wall enabling vast amounts of natural light to pour into the live room throughout the day offering an open feel and incredible views.
The vast array of recording equipment including a vintage Neve 8036, Bill Putnam-built Universal Audio console and a fine collection of microphones and instruments are available to inspire the music making process.
Along with all Distiller artists the studio has also attracted some very special guests such as Tom Jones, Laura Marling, Wild Beasts along with producers Ethan Johns and Jim Abbiss who have all thoroughly enjoyed their experience at The Distillery and helped its growing reputation as one of the countries most desired recording locations.
